Eric, Leslie, Andrew and Owen gave me an Amazon gift card that it took me about, oh, thirty to fifty seconds to spend. Here are two of my purchases. I am still waiting on a history book about WWII. I am looking forward to reading them. Persepolis is a graphic novel about growing up in Iran by Marjane Satrapi. I am considering using it for my courses. It details the period before and after the downfall of the Shah of Iran and the remarkable, yet little understood takeover of Iran by radical fundamentalists, that turned an entire, largely secular country into a Theocracy almost overnight. It was reviewed by the Wall Street Journal so we shall see. The other book by George Weigel, Faith, Reason and The War, argues that we better understand what we are fighting. I agree.
