As someone who has actually read Beowulf in old English and found it tedious and difficult, I was somewhat reluctant to see the new movie, Beowulf. However, buoyed by a gushing review in the Wall Street Journal, where one usually finds faint praise if any for a movie, we went yesterday and we saw it. WOW! It was truly amazing. Of course, we did see it at the I-Max Theater in 3-D and yes we wore the goofy glasses. It was as if you were in the scene and we dodged spears or arrows several times. Not for the faint of heart and definitely not for children. Very violent, some nudity and I am really glad to have missed that particular era.
