Visiting California

If you are interested in the early history of California, you may want to go to google books and search for E.S Capron and his History of California. You can now put the term (google and books) into your browser and have access to many books and you can download them as PDF files. You will need Adobe Acrobat for this. I actually own this book, published in 1854, written by a distant cousin, a Boston Lawyer and very excellent observer, but I downloaded a copy as well. I do use his account of vigilantes and San Francisco in some courses. If you do happen to have a pristine copy of this book, keep it. I paid about $150 for my copy but books in better condition bring nearly $2,000.
