As promised, we made it to the Salmon Festival on the banks of the American River. It was warm and sunny after a cool beginning and we enjoyed it immensely. We met one of my former students (a volunteer at the festival), Zara, and brought her the first Salmon dinner she had ever tried. Not too many Salmon make it to Afghanistan, her home country. I think she liked it and we were glad to meet her there. She is a very busy young woman with three children, goats, sheep, chickens and a puppy as well as a husband. Oh, and she is still working and raising kids and going to more school.

Looks like great fun!
She is busy, but fresh milk and eggs for her kids that's awesome. I would like to do something similar, but chickens are smelly so maybe just the goat.
