This past Friday we went to Stanford staying with Birgit and Brian. Birgit is the daughter of our friends from Germany, Dietrich and Gerlinde and Brian is the step-son of my cousin Bruce. They have now been together for nine years after I sent Birgit to California and asked Bruce to show her around. He and his wife Barbara did some of that but so did Brian, recognizing a good thing when he sees it. Here are some photos of Stanford, and of our son Jon, the Baylor Track Coach. Brian is an engineer working for Gore designing medical devices and Birgit is a doctoral student in Social Psychology. She does run into this guy sometimes, Phil Zimbardo, the man some blame for the requirement for human subjects review panels before conducting research, but he did do some interesting research and is still quite active.
