So we are in Sonoma staying at the Fairmont Sonoma Spa and Hotel. It is very nice and it should be as our room notice says the room is $1000 per night, but the weather is foggy and miserable. We enjoyed a wine blending private lesson yesterday at the Ravenswood winery. The key to making good wine is good grapes we learned. Friday night we went to the Cafe La Haye.
It was superb. Yesterday we had lunch at the Girl and the Fig and it was amazing. We then went to Chateau St. Jean for a private reserve wine tasting. It was in the 1920 original estate house and what a house, with details that were amazing. The wine was great and we learned some more. Last night we tried a Portugese restaurant, this one La Sallete and it was amazing as well. Today it was sunny and bright. Back to the Girl and the Fig for another incredible lunch and then a spa day. The spa here is blessed with natural mineral water, from the hills and they actually have to cool it as it is too hot. Rhonda had a facial and I accompanied her part of the time. For our last night we went to dinner at Della Santina. Another wonderful meal and we are reluctant to leave. Sonoma is worth a visit. Just bring money. We ended up with this weekend at a charity auction. It was expensive but was a great idea. We will return and everyone should visit this place.
